Skyline Caverns Cruise, with lunch
A cavern tour has been ODCC's first cruise of the year for the last 2 years. It's a great March trip because the weather doesn't matter much. Thirty degrees, or 80, the caverns hover around 50 degrees all year round. We did Luray 2 years ago, and Shenandoah last year, so we'll hit
Skyline
this time.
Skyline
is s
maller, but more natural and less commercial than Luray, and runs much smaller tour groups so you get to see everything without a bunch of people in the way. Skyline Caverns is one of the few places in the world which hosts anthodite formations. These unique crystals spread in all directions, actually defying gravity. The Chandelier is the largest and oldest anthodite known to man. Note: you can get a dicount coupon for admission to the cave here:
https://skylinecaverns.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/internetcoupon.png
We'll spend about an hour touring the cave, then take some time to visit the gift shop and tour the other attractions, if the group desires. Then we'll head to the nearby
Vibrissa Beer
(and restaurant)
for lunch. The club has hit Vibrissa several times, and always enjoyed the food and environment. If it's a nice day, we can sit outside. Vibrissa is located at
122 E Main Street
in Front Royal.
After lunch, you're welcome to walk down the street to the
Virginia Beer Museum
. Who knew?
