Queen City Corvette Show (Charlotte, NC) & Tail of the Dragon

Car Show postponed until Saturday, October 29th.

ODCC members and friends can attend the car show, or meet us for the Tail of the Dragon and / or the Back of the Dragon, or all three. So if you'd like to do the car show and then head home, that's cool. If you'd like to skip the car show and meet at Deal's Gap and drive the TOTD, we'll see you there! We're flexible.

The annual car show, held at Rick Hendrick's campus in Charlotte, NC, attracts more than 700 Corvettes, and offers the options of touring Hendrick's private Corvette Collection and his NASCAR shop. Hendrick's private collection is amazing. He has a 1967 427 Corvette in every color combination (body & stripes) that GM offered that year, and that's only a small fraction of the total. All of his VIN #1 cars are there, as well as special editions, some one of a kind Corvettes, and quite a few other, non-Corvette cars. It may be the premier Corvette collection anywhere, and possibly the premier auto collection on the East Coast. This is Rick's personal collection, and not normally open to the public, but he opens it to visitors for a few select Corvette related events. Note: reservations for the collection tour are limited, so sign up soon!

Entrance fee for the show is $25, plus an additional $25 each to tour the private collection and the NASCAR shop. All proceeds from those tours goes to charity.

Those attending will leave Friday morning to Caravan to Charlotte (approximately 6 hours driving time). There are discounts at several hotels in the area, ranging from $69 (Sleep Inn) to $169 (Embassy Suites) with several options in between. Each member will be responsible for making and paying for their own reservations for the show and the hotel of their choice. The initial ODCC attendees have chosen the Hampton Inn.

On Sunday, for anyone who is interested, we will head to Deals Gap and drive the Tail of the Dragon before heading home. Plans are to drive it both Sunday afternoon or evening and then Monday morning on the way home. If timing and weather permit, we will also drive the Back of the Dragon on the way home.
